Fever, Puerperal Fever and Childbed Fever often progressed slowly and silently, leaving families with few
medical options. Their story reflects a time when infections that are now treatable or preventable posed some
of the greatest threats to children’s lives. Brighton General Cemetery records contain 253 such deaths.
